DSMS YR 7s 0-3 Hummersknott YR 7s

The DSMS Yr 7s were up for the challenge. In the reverse fixture of this tie, Hummersknott were 5-0 up, and it was only half time. This time, the youngest boys in the school were determined to turn it around, and they got off to a good start. It was a nice turn to get around to stranded defender, only to be brilliantly parried at the near post by the goal keeper. But Hummersknott hit them on the counter, rushing at their defence with the ball. The attacker beat his man and fired a shot into the far post, finding its way into the back of the net. 0-1. The worst possible start. The rest of the half involved the DSMS defence struggling to contain the constant Hummersknott threat. But the boys made it to half time. 0-1 down wasn’t a bad scoreline, and the second half gave them the wind, a win was still possible. And they began the half with real intent, as a beautifully lofted ball found our striker. He hit it on the volley and forced a great save from the keeper once again. They had really upped their game. But the counter-attack was really hurting them, and Hummersknott broke free and managed to slot another one home to put them 0-2 up. At this point the DSMS players were tiring, and they couldn’t play will the same fluency as they did at the beginning of each half. In fact they couldn’t replicate their performance at all, and they soon found themselves 0-3 down. Before they knew it, the game was over, and the reverse fixture was ringing through their minds.
